This ten-day East India trip includes the old Buddhist monasteries in Sikkim, heritage walk in Darjeeling with the famous toy train joy ride as well as experiencing the rich local culture, tradition and livelihood of the people of this region.

This tour is a unique combination from the plain land of "the City of Joy" Kolkata with its heritage aspect to the rural Himalayas hills in the north with “Queen of Hills” Darjeeling and the home of Buddhist monasteries, Sikkim.

In the morning, after breakfast, you'll drive to Kolkata airport as per your flight schedule and fly to Bagdogra. On arrival, you'll meet your guide and drive to Darjeeling, Queen of India's hill stations. Its setting is one of incomparable beauty - a Victorian town of old world charm 'discovered' by the British. It is surrounded by fragrant tea gardens which seem to flow over the layered slopes like emerald swells on a rough sea. You'll have the evening at leisure to explore the town.

Early this morning, you'll start your day with the Tiger Hill viewpoint. Situated at an altitude of 2590 metres and 13 kilometres from the town, this spot has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise over "Kanchenjunga" and the great Eastern Himalayan Mountains. Even Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, is also visible from here. After breakfast, you'll check out and drive to Pelling in West Sikkim, famous for its magnificent views of Kanchenjunga.

The morning, after breakfast, you will visit Pemayangtse monastery. Designed and founded by Lama LhatsunChempo in 1705, it is one of the oldest and premier monasteries of Sikkim. Afterwards, you'll do an easy hike to the Rubduntse Ruins, the second capital of the past Kingdom of Sikkim. Then, you'll do a more moderate trek to Sangachoeling Monastery, the second oldest monastery in Sikkim after Pemayangtse. After lunch, you'll finish the day tour with a drive around Khecheopalri Lake.

After breakfast, you'll check out and begin the four-hour drive to Gangtok, a fairytale capital in the clouds. Gangtok balances precariously on steep mountain slopes, surrounded by lush rice terraces, swifts flowing rivers and distant snow views. It is situated in the lower Himalayas and was a small hamlet until the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840 made it into a pilgrimage centre.
On arrival, you'll check-in and then have the rest of the evening free to explore.

Today you will take rest from walking and will do a full-day tour in Gangtok by car with visiting the most attractive points of the city. With a private car and local guide, you'll visit Rumtek Monastery, the Research Institute of Tibetology and Do DrulChorten before a break for lunch. After lunch, you'll continue your tour to the Government Institute of Cottage Industries (GICI), Tashi Viewpoint and you'll finish the day exploring Lal Bazaar before returning to your hotel.
