This ten-day Poonhill trek is a wonderful short trek in the Annapurna Region.

It has the magic of the Himalayan panorama, encounters with the beautiful and kind Gurung people and ultimately offers a fun and inspiring trek while walking through the colourful rhododendron woods.

Day 1

Welcome to Kathmandu

You will arrive at Kathmandu airport where you will be greeted by your guide and transferred by private car to Hotel Moonlight for check in. You will attend a pre-trip meeting at the hotel, then you are free to explore Thamel, the main tourist centre in Kathmandu. This is an opportunity to take a walk south and visit Durbar Square where you can see shrines, temples and the old Royal Palace, do a little shopping or take a walk around the park.

After breakfast you will take the tourist bus to Pokhara. It's a 7-hour scenic drive with a lunch stop on the way. After checking into your hotel, you can explore Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal.
There are many options this afternoon, you can bike around Lake Phewa, have a massage, take a cooking class, go boating or simply take the day to relax.

Day 3

Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and drive 1.5 hours to Nayapul, where you will start your trek. It's a short 30-minute hike to Birenthanti, and here you will stop for a delicious Nepali lunch. Then, you'll continue for another easy 3-hour trek to Tikhedhunga. Once you arrive you will check into a local tea house and explore around Tikhedhunga and the surrounding nature.

Day 4

Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

After breakfast, you will start a steep 2-hour climb to Ullery where you will have a short tea break. Then, there is a gradual climb to Nangethanti for lunch. After, you will continue your trek to Ghorepani.
The name Ghorepani came from water (pani in Nepali) and horses (ghora in Nepali). This used to be a rest stop for ancient traders. Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as the Annapurna Base Camp. Spend the afternoon exploring Ghorepani on your own.

Day 5

Ghorepani to Tadapani

You will wake up early in the morning to begin your Poonhill trek for a magnificent sunrise view over the Annapurna range. Return to the lodge for breakfast and start on a 6-hour scenic trek to Tadapani. The first part involves an uphill climb to Deurali, then downhill along the forest trail to Banthanti for lunch. Arrive in the afternoon at your teahouse in Tadapani, a small village surrounded by beautiful forests with magnificent views of Annapurna. Take a rest or explore around Tadapani.

Day 6

Tadapani to Jhinu Danda

The trail today descends through forests and crosses the suspension bridge uphill to the point where the path goes in two different directions. One leads to Chhomorong and another to Jhinu Danda. You will check into a tea house and experience the natural pools, built into the riverbank of the powerful Modi Khola. Enjoy a stunning view and relax in the therapeutic hot water with the sights and sounds of the river surrounded by native rhododendron trees.

Day 7

Jhinu Danda to Dhampus

The day begins with a 10-minute descent to Kimrong Khola, where you will cross some more suspension bridges and follow the left bank of the river through a very thin subtropical forest until Landruk. After passing through a dense temperate forest to Dhampus, you will see some magnificent views of the Himalayas. The trek takes around six hours, and you will spend the night in a local tea house.

Day 8

Dhampus to Pokhara

Today is your last trekking day. You will start with a steep 2-hour descent to Phedi, passing through small villages and terraced fields. A private car will transfer you to Pokhara. Then, you will check in at your hotel. After lunch, you can take a sightseeing tour around Pokhara and visit Phewa lake, Tal-Barahi Temple, Devi's Falls, Mahendra Cave and the Seti River bridge.
