On arrival at the airport, your local guide will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel in town to check-in. Your hotel is set in a lush landscape of UNESCO-classified lily ponds. You'll start the day by visiting the morning market, a perfect place to meet the locals, dine on Lao food and watch the people as they wander. Grab yourself a frosty beer and a slice of blood sausage and check it out. You'll then enjoy a short drive to visit Wat Xieng Thong or Temple of the Royal City - one of the most important of Lao monasteries and remains a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art. Explore the night market in the evening.

This morning, your tuk-tuk driver will pick you up at your hotel this morning to go to the boat jetty. You'll then embark on the Nava Mekong, a traditional riverboat, for a shared cruise on the mighty Mekong River. On the way, you will have a great opportunity to enjoy the dramatic yet peaceful scenery as well as see the simple lives of rural people living along the river.

This morning, you will pass the Mekong river by a local ferry towards Khmu Village. You'll also visit the Ban Chan Pottery village if time permits. It is a rare chance to try your hand at creating beautiful pots from clay. Along the way, you will pass by rustic villages, children playing together or farmers doing their work. You'll visit Ban Boum Xieng and observe the ethnic tradition and daily life. After lunch with a Khmu family, you'll fly to Vientiane in the late afternoon.

Today is devoted to exploring the peaceful city of Vientiane. The highlights of the day include Wat Phra Keo, which was built in 1565 is one of the most impressive and interesting temples in Vientiane. It previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha image. You'll also visit Wat Si Saket, famous for its cloister wall storing thousands of tiny Buddha images and its beautiful architecture and layout with history dated back to 1818.

This morning, you will be transferred to the airport (without a tour guide) to take a morning flight from Vientiane to Pakse. Once you arrive in Pakse, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and driver. Then, you'll make your way to visit Vat Phou Temple. Recorded on the UNESCO World Heritage list, Vat Phou is a stunning pre-Angkorian temple built upon three levels. You'll then arrive at your hotel on the 4,000 islands.

Today is devoted to exploring the Don Det and Don Khone, two smaller islands which are considered the heaven of the backpacker. Take a tuk-tuk to visit these two islands, which are linked by a bridge. You'll then visit Ban Khone fishing village where you can explore the ruins of French railway tracks and the beautiful Liphi Waterfall. You'll enjoy the tranquil atmosphere in the islands and take awesome photos of the local life and natural beauty of the 4,000 islands.

Today, you can enjoy your last minutes in the 4,000 Islands and enjoy the sunrise before driving to Khone Phapheng, one of the most significant attractions of the 4,000 islands. This 10-kilometre waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in Southeast Asia and considered the jewel of Laos. You'll then continue to the Bolaven Plateau where you'll be staying the night at a resort.

This is one of the most interesting places in Pakse where you can immerse in local life.
