This 10-day Nepal trekking itinerary with magnificent Himalayan views can be a great option for those people who prefer an easier trek or are a little short on time.

The Tengboche Monastery Trek begins with a 30-minute scenic flight to Lukla. From Lukla, the trail heads up north through several traditional Sherpa villages to Namche Bazaar, located at an elevation of 3,440 metres.

This is the biggest tourist hub in Everest region which offers magnificent Himalayan panorama views and beautiful hiking trails. You will also get a chance to visit Tengboche monastery, which is one of the biggest monasteries of the region, located at 3,870 metres and offers great sunset views over Mount Everest.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu

Once you arrive at Kathmandu airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to Hotel Moonlight for a pre-trip meeting. In the afternoon you can explore Thamel, the main tourist centre in Kathmandu. This is an opportunity to take a walk south and visit Durbar Square where you can see shrines, temples and the old Royal Palace, do a little shopping or take a walk around the park.

Today you will check out of your hotel and will be transferred to the domestic airport where you will catch a flight to Lukla. Enjoy a scenic 3-hour trek to Phakding where you will experience a delicious local Nepali lunch. Check in to your tea house in the afternoon and spend your time exploring this small village before dinner that evening.

Day 3

Phakding to Namche Bazar

After breakfast, you will take a 6-hour scenic trek to Namche Bazaar and you will stop at Jorshalle for a local Nepali lunch. Continue your trek with magnificent views of Mount Everest from Top Danda. Check into your tea house at Namche Bazar, which boasts three small museums, a stupa, monastery, and several cafes. Namche is the first place that is above the altitude sickness threshold and most travellers prefer to spend at least two nights here in order to acclimatize.

Day 4

Syangboche and Khumjung Day Hike

Today's hike is to the Everest viewpoint at Syangboche (3880 metres) with panoramic views of the Everest Himalayan Range including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Tawche, Thamserku and Kongde. Continue your hike to Khumjung for lunch and visit the village, Khumjung Monastery, and the school established by Sir Edmund Hilary. Return back to Namche Bazar in the early afternoon.

Day 5

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

After checking out of the tea house after breakfast, you will embark on a 6-hour trek to Tengboche. Stop at Phunki Tenga for lunch and continue trekking up to Tengboche. Visit Tengboche Monastery in the afternoon for the daily Puja (prayers). Tengboche Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community.

Day 6

Tengboche to Namche Bazar

Today you will trek six hours back to Namche Bazar, following the same route you took on your ascent. You will pass through Phungki-Tenga, and your trek will ascend for two hours to Kyangjuma where you will stop for lunch with beautiful scenic views as your backdrop. After lunch, the trek is gentle and flat all the way to Chorkyang and finally to Namche Bazar.

Namche to Lukla

You will leave Namche Bazar after breakfast and begin your trek to Lukla. The trail at the beginning is downhill until you reach the high bridge at Dudhkoshi River. Enjoy the last view of Mount Everest from Top Danda, have a tea break at Jorsalle and continue to Phakding passing by Monjo and Benkar villages. Then, you will stop at Phakding for lunch and continue your trek to approach Lukla. Check into the tea house and explore Lukla before dinner.

After breakfast, you will take a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. Visit Swyambhunath Stupa also known as Monkey Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupa. In the evening you can enjoy a farewell dinner with a typical Nepali family and you'll get to share your trekking experiences as you say goodbye to Nepal.
