10-Day Self-Drive Kyushu Tour

Customisable Itinerary
4.8 • (1 review)

Trip Overview

Embark on a journey that will take you to the most iconic destinations on one of Japan's main islands, Kyushu.

Somewhat less explored than the rest of Japan, a self-drive Kyushu tour offers travellers something different. The island is known for its subtropical climate, its active volcanos, beautiful beaches and natural hot springs. Beginning in Nagasaki, you'll learn about the 1945 devastation caused by an atomic bomb before moving on to Saga and then Fukuoka, a city home to museums and shrines.

Next up, you'll find yourself marvelling in awe at the thermal hot springs of Beppu and hiking to the top of Mount Yufu before venturing to Aso for yet another volcanic trek. After a day in Kumamoto, you'll complete your trip in Kagoshima where you'll return your rental car in favour of exploring on foot and by public transport.
