After being transferred to the city centre from Ljubljana airport, you'll enjoy a tour around the capital city visiting the famous Dragon Bridge and Ljubljana Castle among many other sites. After that, you will have some free time to explore the hidden corners of the fortified Roman old town, relax in one of the many bars and restaurants or just wander the lively banks of the Ljubljanica, the river that gave its name to the city.

Today, you'll head to Postojna and visit the Balkans' famous karst cave, one of the largest in the world and one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions. Its stalagmite and stalactite formations are stunning and unparalleled by any other cave. You'll then move on to the north of the country where you'll visit a beautiful glacial lake at the foot of the Julian Alps, known as Lake Bled. You'll explore the lake by boat and the surrounding area of the cliff-clinging castle and island church.

After breakfast, you'll continue your Balkan adventure to the Plitvice Lakes National Park, a wonderful nature park protected by UNESCO and one of the most famous in Croatia for its stunning azure waters and cascading falls. After Plitvice, you'll travel to your next destination, Zadar, an energetic historical town of Roman ruins, medieval churches and cosmopolitan cafes. You can explore its lively streets on foot and visit the fascinating structure of melodic Sea Organ at sunset.

Today, you'll head to Split, where a local will take you through the charming Dalmatian city and its Roman treasures. You'll visit many Gothic and Roman buildings including the mighty Diocletian's Palace and Saint Domnius Cathedral. After the tour, you'll enjoy some free time for a walk through the narrow cobbled streets which add to the charm of this Mediterranean city. You may want to take this time to sample some delicious Croatian delights in the many restaurants and bars.

Today, you'll leave Dubrovnik behind and head to Mostar, stopping in Pocitelj, the stepped Ottoman-era fortress village and a picture-perfect reminder of the old 16-century Ottoman times, along the way. After Pocitelj, you'll also visit Medugorje an important Catholic pilgrimage site where visions of the Virgin Mary have been reported since the 1980s. You'll then arrive in Mostar in the later afternoon, ready to explore the following day.

Before leaving for Sarajevo in the afternoon, you'll get to know the picturesque Mostar, which owes its name to the famous bridge over the Neretva River, Stari Most. Built in the 16th century, this bridge is a fascinating example of fine Ottoman Turkish architecture. If time, you'll also be able to visit the 'Crooked Bridge' which is believed to be the Stari Most's prototype. Leaving behind this fairytale city, you'll drive to the Bosnian capital and the charismatic city of Sarajevo.

In the morning, you'll continue to visit the Balkans in the city of Sarajevo visiting the wonderful Sarajevo Cathedral, the largest in the country. Later in the afternoon, you'll be able to enjoy some to explore the famous oriental old town known as ‘Baščaršija’ and visit the Baščaršija Mosque. This time is also a great opportunity to try some local food and shop for some colourful handicrafts and souvenirs.

From Sarajevo to Zagreb via Travnik, Jajce & Banja Luka

Today after breakfast you'll head towards Zagreb in Croatia. On the way, you'll be stopping at various points along the way including Travnik, once the capital of the Ottoman Vizier from the 1690s to the 1850s. Here, you'll have some time to quickly explore before continuing to Jajce, the birthplace of former Yugoslavia. After a short visit of Jajce, you'll continue to Banja Luka a stunning city surrounded by green hills and filled with cascading falls, before arriving in Zagreb in the evening.

Being a city that dates back to the 1st century during the Roman times and was an important centre of Yugoslavia, Zagreb is therefore packed with culture and history. After the tour, you'll have some free time to further explore the city and sample some local delicacies.
