Upon your arrival at Ljubljana airport, you'll be met by your driver and transferred to the hotel. In the early part of the afternoon, you'll be taken on a sightseeing tour of the old town which is squeezed between the castle hill and the river. You'll also visit the castle tower which boasts a panoramic view of the city and one of the best in Ljubljana. Following the tour, you'll have some free time to explore the city as you wish.

After breakfast, you'll head for the Julian Alps to visit Bled where we'll visit the 1000-year old castle towers above the town and where you can admire the lake and its small island and church which sits upon it. In the afternoon, you'll be taken to where the locals go – Lake Bohinj - following a very scenic drive through the countryside. At Lake Bohinj, you'll take a cable car up to Mount Vogel which will deliver panoramic views of the lake and the scenery surrounding it.

In the morning, you'll set off for the Croatian capital, Zagreb, making a stop along the way in Otočec, a scenic riverside settlement that is a lovely place to wander around. Once you reach Zagreb, you'll head out on a sightseeing tour of the old part of the Croatian capital visiting the Zagreb Cathedral and St Mark's Church among other sites. In the afternoon, you'll have some free time to visit some galleries, museums or just enjoy one of the many cafés Zagreb has to offer.

Day 4

Zagreb to Sarajevo

Today, you'll continue to Bosnia & Herzegovina and its Olympic capital city, Sarajevo. Upon arrival, you'll visit the tunnel that saved the city during 1990s siege, one of the longest sieges in recent history. In the afternoon, you'll check-in to the hotel and visit the city centre, considered to be the border between eastern and western Europe. In the evening, you'll explore Baščaršija, Sarajevo's old town, and taste local specialities such as "ćevapčići" and "burek", among others.

Your next stop on the list is Mostar on the Neretva River with its beautiful UNESCO-protected bridge and beautiful mosque symbolising the influence the area had from various cultures over the centuries. You'll then travel towards Dubrovnik and in the early evening, you'll arrive in this pearl of the Adriatic and stunning medieval city. Before checking into your hotel, you'll have some time to explore the city's old town and monuments such as the Gothic Rector's Palace and the cathedral.

After the breakfast, you'll hop over the border to Montenegro where you'll visit of the biggest fjord in Adriatic, the Bay of Kotor or Boka Kotorska as its also known. Here, you can explore its charming UNESCO-protected town of Kotor and visit the main sites with a knowledgeable local guide. After Kotor, you'll continue to Budva, the biggest coastal resort of Montenegro before later returning to Dubrovnik.

Today, you'll continue your trip towards Trogir, a charming medieval Renaissance town built on a small island. Here, you can admire the famous Cathedral of St. Lawrence and the city walls surrounding the old town. Continuing on your journey, you'll travel to Zadar, a city that was one the capital of Dalmatia. Here, you'll visit the medieval churches of St. Donatus and St. Anastasia and the old Roman Forum. At sunset, you may want to visit the Sea Organ and listen to its melodic tunes.

Here, you'll be wowed by the 16 large and small lakes and the 92 waterfalls connecting them that form one of the most magnificent sites in the world. Admire the azure waters of the park as you cross the lakes on wooden bridges which blend into the surroundings. In the afternoon, you'll head to your next overnight destination Opatija, the 19th-century resort of the aristocracy.

You'll complete your journey of ex-Yugoslavia in Slovenia with a visit to the spectacular Postojna Cave on a small train which takes you through the fascinating caverns. After visiting the caves, you'll head to the nearby Predjama Castle, which is built at the move of the cave into the cliff face 120 metres above the river - it is a spectacular site. In the afternoon, you'll make the short trip back to Ljubljana where you'll spend your final night.

After breakfast and depending on your departure flight time, you may have some free time to explore Ljubljana one last time and perhaps pick up some last-minute souvenirs or gifts for loved ones.
