Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poonhill is located at the North of Nepal and West of Pokhara city in Annapurna region, popularly known as Annapurna Balcony trekking. This 13-day trip takes you on the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, which is the shortest and easiest trek offering a wonderful opportunity to see the Annapurna Region.

The Ghorepani Hills are densely forested with rhododendrons and oak forests full of birds. In Gurung village, you can still see the Nepalese Gurung traditions and culture. On the trek, you'll be rewarded with amazing and incredible panoramic views of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

You'll then move onto Pokhara, enjoy jungle activities in Chitwan and finish your trip in Kathmandu. This Nepal trekking trip offers you the best glimpse of cultural heritage, amazing wildlife, natural resources, stunning snow-capped Himalayas and prehistoric places, all combined with the unique lifestyle of Nepalese people.

This afternoon, there will be a briefing about the activities during your Nepal trekking trip and during the meeting, you'll also be introduced to your guide. In the evening, a welcome dinner with a cultural programme will introduce you to Nepal's culture.

Early in the morning, you'll set off for your drive to Pokhara by tourist bus which will take about seven to eight hours. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free to explore.

Day 3

Today, you'll drive to Nayapul to begin your trek, a 1.5-hour drive away. Your Ghorepani Poonhill trek begins from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. Then, your trek starts from Nayapul to Tirkhedhunga (1,560 metres). You'll walk along the Modi River where there is an Annapurna Conservation Area check post. Whilst walking, you can enjoy the outstanding view of the Annapurna Range. You'll camp at Tirkhedhunga after four to five hours of trekking.

Today the trail leads us on a steep hill for about two hours with the amazing landscapes and the Himalayan scenery. You'll be rewarded with a pleasant view of rhododendron and magnificent oak forests and all the way to Ghorepani, a pleasant village on the top of the ridge with excellent views of several peaks. Ghorepani means “horse water” in Nepali. You'll trek for four to five hours and overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 5

Early in the morning, you will trek 1.5 hours to Poonhill for one of the most amazing sunrise views of your life. Poonhill is popular for a breathtaking view of the unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas and the wide range of panoramic scenery from the far western Himalaya of Dolpo, Mt Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Fish Tail and so on. After spending about one hour on the hillside, you'll descend back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast and start walking to Tadapani, a total of five to six hours.

Today, you'll enjoy the wonderful occasional views of Mt. Annapurna and Machhapuchhre on your gradual path towards Bhasi Kharka. Then, after a couple of hours, you'll reach Ghandruk, a Gurung Village passing forests and small streams. In the afternoon, you can explore the village and Gurung culture and local lifestyle at Ghandruk. The total trekking time today will be around four to five hours.

Day 7

Ghandruk to Nayapul & Drive to Pokhara

Early in the morning, you'll descend to Birethanti on a scenic route with views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail and Gangapurna Mountains. You will cross the forest of blooming rhododendron and reach Birethanti from where you will take the downhill walk and follow Modi Khola till you reach Nayapul, three to four hours in total. You'll drive one hour to Pokhara by private car and stay overnight there.

Today is an adventurous day in Chitwan. You will be enjoying various activities like canoeing, village walking tours and more. Chitwan is a rich wilderness that is home to many mammals birds, reptiles and more. Heading out into the jungle enables you to get up close and personal with many of these animals. You can explore the jungle with a guided walk, canoe ride, jeep drive, whitewater rafting or you can attend a sanctuary and enjoy a day of swimming and bathing with the elephants.

After an adventurous stay in Chitwan, you will drive back to Kathmandu on the tourist bus, that will take about seven hours. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll have some free time on your own to explore. Known as a city of temples, temple-hopping is a popular activity in Kathmandu. Between UNESCO World Heritage Sites, stupas and temples, you'll discover the valley is rich in spiritual architecture. In the ancient city alone, there are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
