Trip Overview

On this 14-day Bali trip, you will be visiting Ubud, strolling rice fields, marvelling at Balinese temples and visiting small craft villages. If that wasn't enough, you'll also visit the wonderful Monkey Sanctuary and many famous Balinese water temples.

At Kintamani, you'll watch the sunrise from the top of Mount Batur after trekking up to the summit in the early hours. Then, you'll travel to the charming Candidasa, sitting on the edge of a lagoon with local villages steeped in tradition and Balinese culture. This is a perfect base for snorkelling, diving and island day trips.

You'll finish your trip in Sanur, a beautiful and quiet beach-side town with long stretches of amazing beaches and a paved cycling path.

Upon arrival in Bali, you will be transferred from Ngurah Rai Airport to Ubud. On the way, you will travel through the bustling street of Kuta and past rice fields, Balinese temples and small craft villages before arriving in Ubud. You'll be picked up from your hotel for a day of relaxed walking in the Ubud surroundings. Today's trails will bring you along paths that meander through rice paddies, small villages and green fields. Let the guide explain the tiring process of growing rice and how this is processed. Walk along ridges for stunning views. Make sure to bring your camera, for many stops can be made to snap amazing photos. You'll return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Monkey Forest Ubud is a small rainforest Sanctuary and a natural habitat of around 750 Balinese long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). After exploring the monkey forest, you'll visit a famous Balinese water temple near the town of Tampaksiring, the compound consists of a bathing structure and is famous for its holy spring water. In the late afternoon, you'll visit a Balinese home, learn about the family and their traditions and enjoy their home-cooked meal.

For this road trip, two alternative routes are available. You can stop along the way at places such as Goa Gajah and Yeh Pulu. As well as the lake and the volcano, Kintamani is home to Pura Ulun Danu Batur, one of Bali's key nine directional temples. Kintamani offers many activities including bike rides to the countryside, a coffee tour or a cultural trip.

It's a 3 am start for today's adventure. A simple breakfast will be provided before you start the trek at 4.00 am where you will be transferred to the starting point. You will arrive at the summit at approximately 6.00 am and enjoy some tea or coffee and watch the sunrise with all its colours. Afterwards, you'll trek back down and return to your hotel for a relaxing afternoon.

Today, you'll travel to Candidasa. You'll check into your resort, then visit Besakih Temple, Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung Water Palace, the largest and holiest temple of Hindu religion. This sacred site is comprised of an extensive complex 23 individual temples, the largest and most important being Pura Penataran Agung. Mount Agung erupted several times in 1963, but the temple miraculously survived. To the Balinese people, the temples' survival was a sign of power from the gods.

Today, you'll check out of your Candidasa beach resort and travel to Sanur. Visit the unique Taman Ayun Temple and its beautiful gardens and the Hindu pilgrimage site of Tanah Lot, built upon a beautiful rock formation at the end of a beach. You'll finish your drive to Sanur with the main spiritual pillars of Bali Island, perched on the top of a 70-metre high clifftop that projects into the sea, this temple one of the six Sad Kahyangan Temples. At sunset, you'll watch the magical fire dancers.

This day of your Bali trip is free to spend as you wish. Some optional activities include the Bali Seawalker - a great activity for anyone who wishes to enjoy Bali’s depths teeming with tropical marine life. You can also visit the Museum Le Mayeur, a hidden treasure located right on the main Sanur Beach of Sindhum behind the array of art and souvenir stalls. The quirkiest place is the abandoned theme park, the Taman Festival Bali, which saw its heyday in 1997, but now considered a ghost town.
