Customisable Itinerary
4.6 • 4 travellers have booked with Dil G.

Trip Overview

Island Peak, with a height of 6,192 metres, lies in the Khumbu Himalayan range, and can be summited along with the Everest Base Camp trek.

Island Peak's first ascent was in 1956 and it was meant as a pre-training of Mountain Everest. It was pretty challenging and became a favourite trekking peak for adventurous climbers, however you do not need any climbing experience to go to the summit of Island peak. Your guide will give you some training at base camp on how to climb with climbing gears on rock, crevasse and ice with support of climbing boots, harness, ice axe, crampon, ice screws and rope.

The start of this trek leads through Sherpa villages crossing suspension bridges with local porters and their yaks. The colourful Sherpa culture and their hospitality makes this trek an enjoyable one. You will be greeted with a big smile at places like Phakding, Namche, Khummjung, Tyanboche, Dincgboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep and Chhukung and you'll spend nights at lovely typical Sherpa houses with Buddhist flavour.

The entire journey is on yak trails offering superb views of the Himalayan range and it will be an unforgettable trip. Now is the time to go to Nepal!
