Day 1
Welcome to Iquitos!

A driver will meet you at Iquitos airport. Soon after, you will board a speedboat for a 60-minute ride to the Heliconia River Lodge. There is a short stopover at Monkey Island. In the afternoon, set out on a guided jungle hike into the Yanamono Primary Rainforest Reserve. Return to the lodge for some relaxation and be enthralled by the first sunset of your trip to the Amazon. With no lights, listen to the magical sounds of the jungle and with some luck, you can also see some falling stars.

Bird Watching, Yaguas Village, Native Fishing and Evening Hike

Rise early in the morning for a bird watching boat ride. Return to the lodge for a scrumptious and energizing breakfast. Then you will visit an indigenous Yaguas village to learn about their way of life along the Amazon River. In the afternoon, you will set off on a native fishing expedition, and you can try to fish for piranhas. In the evening, go on an enchanting 30-minute evening trek before dinner. It’s the best time to see nocturnal animals such as the stunning tree frogs.

Giant Water Lily, Lunch and Departure

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before you board the boat towards a lake in Yanamono Island where you will be able to glimpse of the giant water lily. Now renamed to Victoria Amazonica, this native flower in the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin are mostly found in oxbow lakes and bayous. Return to the lodge for lunch & check-out. Your remarkable trip to the Amazon is over. After lunch, you will be transferred to Iquitos city and according to your departure, you will be taken to the airport.
