Day 1
Walking Tour of Japan's Yashima Temples

Today, you'll take the train from Takamatsu station to Yashima, then you'll walk to Yashima temple through a beautiful mountain road. After visiting the temple, you'll walk from Yashima Temple to Yakuri Temple through another beautiful mountain road. After exploring Yakuri Temple, you'll make your way to Shido temple along the Shikoku Ohenro route. After visiting Shido temple, you'll take a train back to Takamatsu where you'll stay overnight.

Walking Tour of the Temples in Matsuyama

This morning, you'll take the public train from Takamatsu to Matsuyama. Upon arriving, you'll have lunch at a local restaurant in the town of Saijo. Then you'll start walking from the Tozan-Guchi to visit temple no. 60 on the Shikoku pilgrimage route, Yokomine-Ji is located in the middle of Mount Ishizuchi, the highest peak on Shikoku Island. After the tough 5.8-kilometre mountain hike to reach the temple, you'll end your day relaxing at the Yunotani Hot Spring and stay at a ryokan.

This morning, you'll take the train from Saijo to Takamatsu. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before heading off to visit temple number 81 on the pilgrimage route, Shiromine-Ji, and temple number 82, Negoro-ji. After exploring these mountain top temples, you'll take a taxi back to Takamatsu where your walking tour in Japan will come to an end.
