Taking some gentle hiking in Morocco allows you to become totally immersed in the richness and warmth of the Berber communities that live in the High Atlas Mountains.
Beginning in Marrakesh, you first explore the colourful and clamorous city, enjoying a selection of cultural and historical places of interest that can be tailored to suit your particular interests through having a City Guide included.
Then, even though it is only a short drive away, your two days/one night in the High Atlas will feel like a total world away from the frantic hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. The scenery is simply magnificent with many towering peaks and deep water cut valleys.
Staying with a local Berber family and eating with them in their home, you'll have a most authentic Moroccan experience. You will be amongst the most welcoming of people, their friendliness and their smiles being instantly captivating. You’ll meet the family and learn so much about their lives, their joys and their challenges.
On two days you will hike between and through traditional villages, observing the Berber’s daily life activities. A Countryside Guide will accompany you each day. Hopefully many “happenstance opportunities” will come your way; unexpected encounters and experiences of everyday life as you meet friendly locals who will be eager to engage with you. You may find yourselves being invited into a Berber salon, drinking refreshing tea and eating some local produce, out of the blue!
The hiking pace is as leisurely/demanding as you wish, allowing you plenty time to enjoy the scenery, the nature and, most importantly, to stop, to look, to photograph and to let all your senses take it in. Return to Marrakech in the late afternoon of Day 3.
Depending on your flight’s departure time on Day 4, you may be able to have some informal city time in the morning/afternoon in Marrakech. NOTE: you may wish to add extra days on to this 4 Day Hiking Tour; this can be discussed at the bespoke itinerary planning stage of your personal tour.
This wonderful and wide ranging tour is costed using very pleasant 3* accommodations. However, if wished, the tour can be costed using 4* and/or 5* accommodations if you wish (for either the whole of the tour of for parts of it
