Trip Overview
This memorable trip starts Labuan Bajo, a small fishing town located in eastern Indonesia. You'll go on a hike through the rainforest to the village of Wae Rebo, a unique traditional place of the Manggarai ethnic people, dotted with circular, cone-shaped buildings topped with thatched roofs. There are seven traditional structures and each of them houses more than one family. The community lives off agricultural products like coffee beans, taro and vegetables.

Day 1
Spiderweb Rice Field and Drive to Denge

Starting from your hotel at Labuan, we drive inland with beautiful panoramic views of villages and rice fields. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Lembor to sample some traditional food and visit the famous spiderweb rice fields, their intricate designs spreading out like vast webs. Spend the afternoon interacting with locals in Denge before dinner and staying overnight at a simple guesthouse.

Hiking from Denge to Wae Rebo Village
Close
Start the day early at 8.30 am before it gets too hot. Hike uphill through the rainforest to reach Wae Lomba - a creek about a one hour trek from Denge. Stop at Nampe Bakok - a place where you will have a complete view of the traditional village of Wae Rebo. Then, spend your afternoon in the village and experience the warm welcome from the local people and learn about their way of life.

Day 3
Morning Hike and Drive to Labuan Bajo

Spend your morning in the village and then trek the same way back with several stopping points along the way to rest, walk downhill to the meeting point where your driver will bring you back to Labuan Bajo. Have lunch at a local restaurant en-route and then arrive in Labuan Bajo in the late afternoon or early in the evening and rest for the remainder of the day.
