Alba is the gourmet capital and the heart of Italy's premier wine region of Piedmont. It is in particular famous for its white truffles and chocolates and is a must-visit place for lovers of good wine, here you'll be treated to the best of Alba wine tours.

This self-driving five-day tour includes a truffle hunting experience during which you'll head into the hills of Alba with an expert gatherer and his trusty dog to track down the famous white truffles and enjoy them with lunch afterwards.

Exploring the Alba hills and surrounding woodland in one of the most unique ways, you'll head off-track on horseback one day and experience typical Piedmont cooking. You'll be treated to wine tastings and cellar tours at the famous wineries of Asti and Barolo wine tasting and visit the Grinzane castle to complete your Alba wine tour experience.

Today, upon arrival in Milan, you'll pick up your rental car from the airport office and drive to Alba. A once-powerful city-state, Alba is now a thriving gastronomic capital of the region which still charmingly retains its small-town vibe. Its reputation for fine cuisine is largely due to its world-renowned white truffles, dark chocolate and wine. The rest of the day is free for you to spend as you wish to wander the charming streets of Alba and to visit its key monuments.

This morning, you'll visit a famous winery in the Asti region and explore its huge underground cellars. The winery is known for their vineyards and it is also the birthplace of the Italian sparkling wine. In the afternoon, you'll have a guided tour of the impressive medieval castle, Castello di Grinzane Cavour. You'll also have the option to visit the ancient village of Murazzano, known for the production of the Murazzano DOP cheese and enjoy delicious tasting lunch.

This morning, you'll head out on a horse riding excursion with an expert who will guide you through the Alba hills and surrounding woods. It is an incredible feeling to be able to ride a horse through the woods and over the hills without covering asphalted routes. After a short break, you'll then learn and prepare the old recipes of the most typical dishes of Piedmont cuisine and afterwards, you'll get to enjoy them for your lunch!
