Lhasa: Monasteries and the Palace

In the morning you'll visit the summer palace of the Dalai Lama in Tibet, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site, Potala Palace. In the afternoon you'll visit two of the three most sacred monasteries in Lhasa, Sera and Drepung Monastery. Sera is famous for encouraging debating is a way of learning Buddhist teachings, while Drepung is well known for its rock paintings. This is the perfect introduction to Tibetan Buddhism.

Lhasa: Potala Palace and Barkhor Street

Potala is a world-renowned style of Tibet, as the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, you'll take a short tour in the morning, observing one of the most sacred buildings of the country. In the afternoon, you'll learn about the sanctity of the pilgrimage along the circumambulation route of the Jokhang Temple. You'll also get to see inside another of the sacred sites, with its golden statue of a life-sized Sakyamuni.

Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake (elevation 4,500 m)

In the morning you will travel to Yamdrok Lake, one of the top four Buddhist holy lakes in Tibet. We will have special picnic at Yamdrok Lake if the weather is good. Otherwise, we will drive to a local Tibetan restaurant for lunch. You'll have a photo opportunity with a yak or Tibetan mastiff by the lakeside, which costs around 20 yuan per person.
