Today, you'll depart for Nyungwe National park which takes about 6.5 hours, visiting the famous National Museum at Butare and the ancient King's Palace at Nyanza on the way. You'll have lunch in Butare and thereafter, continue to Nyungwe national park arriving just in time for dinner at your hotel with a view over the beautiful tea plantations.

After breakfast, you'll drive to the starting point of your chimpanzee trek. Two species of chimpanzees are found in Africa, the Bonobo and the Common Chimpanzee Pan troglodytes. After lunch, you'll depart for Kibuye town. Eucalyptus trees line the road, while every corner of the hills is terraced with bananas. Villagers smile and wave; you’ll end up with hands tired from waving, and feel like royalty at the end of the trip! In the evening, you'll have dinner at your hotel.

After breakfast, you'll depart for Ruhengeri with a stop at the Imbabazi Orphanage founded by Rosamond Halsey Carr (1912-2006) in 1994. Here, you'll take a walk around the homestead, have a cup of tea/coffee as you watch the local dancers and enjoy the traditional way of local entertainment. You'll then continue to Ruhengeri, the second largest town in Rwanda, with its stunning backdrop of the five volcanic mountains.

After breakfast, you'll depart for the park headquarters to meet your guides for the day. After completing park formalities, you'll embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience tracking Rwanda mountain gorillas. Once you spot them, you will be allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. Later, you'll return to your hotel for an afternoon of relaxing.
