Upon arrival in San Sebastian (railway or airport), you'll pick up your rental car. Your Spain itinerary begins with a drive to Hondarribia, right on the border with France. Upon arrival, you'll check into the beautiful Parador de Hondarribia, an old medieval fortress, known as the Charles 5th Palace, dating back to the 10th century. From its terrace, you will witness the impressive views of the French border.

Day 2

Today, you can continue your explorations in Santander (the best fish restaurants are by the port) before continuing to Cangas de Onís, at the foot of the Picos de Europa mountains. Along the way, you will have the chance to discover local fishermen villages, Llanes or San Vicente de la Barquera, where the local charm is still untouched. Your Parador for the night, an old monastery, offers impressive views on the mountains and National Park of Picos de Europa.

Today, you'll head out on a guided tour at the National Park of Picos de Europa. Everything in this setting is spectacular: the rocky crests, the gorges, the valleys, the vast glacial lakes and the leafy forests. The best way to get to know them is on foot via its network of clearly signposted routes, enabling you discover all its most emblematic sites. This was the first National Park to be declared in Spain and its natural richness and outstanding scenery make it a truly unique place.

After your breakfast, you'll start your drive to Santiago de Compostela, where the Apostel was buried which began a centennial tradition of pilgrimage that now is called the St James Way. Thousands of pilgrims walk the way every year in search of interior peace and spirituality. On the way, you should stop in Ribadeo for the best seafood lunch and nice views over the coast before reaching your impressive Parador, Hostal Os Reis Catolicos, the best possible Parador to end your trip.
