You'll meet your driver-guide and depart Edinburgh travelling via Loch Lomond, Trossachs and Glencoe en route to Fort William. Glencoe is the site of a massacre which took place in the early hours of the 13th February 1692, when government troops, led by the Campbells, slaughtered the MacDonalds. Upon arrival at your hotel in Fort William, you'll have the rest of the day free to relax.

This morning, you'll travel along the route of the West Highland Railway to Mallaig. Along the way, you'll enjoy the breathtaking rugged scenery beside Loch Eli and Loch Eilt. In Mallaig, you'll board the ferry to Armadale on the Isle of Skye. Upon arrival, you'll travel to the Clan Donald which is the other side of Armadale and the former home of the MacDonalds. You'll visit the Armadale Castle grounds and the Museum of the Isles. Later, you'll continue to Portree, the main town on the island.

Today, you'll have the entire day to explore the Isle of Skye. You'll visit Dunvegan Castle and Gardens, built on a rocky outcrop on the shores of Loch Dunvegan. Dunvegan is the oldest continuously-inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the Cheifs of Clan MacLeod for 800 years. In the afternoon, you'll visit the beautiful crystal clear Fairy Pools on the River Brittle. Finally, you'll visit the Talisker Whisky Distillery, the oldest working distillery on the island.

Today, you'll leave Portree behind and return to the mainland, this time via the Skye Bridge which connects mainland Scotland to the Isle of Skye. You'll continue through spectacular Highland scenery with a chance to visit the picturesque ruins of Eilean Donan Castle en route to the small town of Pitlochry. In the afternoon, after checking into your hotel, you'll visit Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. The castle is set in one of the finest Scottish settings.
