Trip Overview

A great way to visit Egypt: combine the city classic sightseeing in the crazy city of Cairo and the old city of Thebes in the Nile Valley, Luxor.

You'll start in Cairo with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, the heart of all knowledge in Egyptian history. Later in your trip, you'll visit the Great Pyramids of Giza as well as the oldest pyramids in Egypt at Saqqara.

An Egypt trip is not complete without a spot of shopping in the famous bazaar of Khan el Khalili, whether you like to shop or just people watch from the famous el Fishawy Coffeeshop. Luxor is your next stop with its incredible temples and the Valley of the Kings and Queens and a taster sail on the Nile.

Your tour leader will be waiting to welcome you upon arrival at Cairo International Airport. You'll then have a private transfer to the centre of Cairo where you'll check into your hotel. The rest of the day will be free for you to relax at your hotel after your long journey or explore the city on your own. Cairo is a kaleidoscope of sights, smells and sounds oozing from its narrow streets and bustling markets. You'll have the option to attend an evening cultural performance in old Cairo.

Day 2

Today, you'll visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities where you will see a mesmerising display of artefacts including the spectacular Tutankhamun collection. You'll enjoy lunch in the beautiful Azhar Park, before heading to the Citadel. In the evening, you can explore Khan El Khalili bazaar, one of the largest bazaars in the Middle East, with a kaleidoscope of colours, sounds and smells from the exotic spices and perfumes on display. You'll take an overnight train to Luxor in the evening.

Day 3

This morning, you'll arrive in Luxor after your overnight train from Cairo. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel if possible, then you'll head out to explore the main sights of Luxor. You'll begin at Luxor Temple, a large ancient Egyptian temple that was of great importance in the ancient capital city of Thebes. In the evening, you'll see the sound and light show at Karnak Temple, a vast and varied mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings.

Today is a full day of sightseeing around Luxor, including a kalesa ride. Beginning with a tour to Valley of the Kings and Queens, you'll visit the tombs, and then move on to the funerary temple of the first female Pharaoh Queen, Hatshepsut. Today, you'll also have the option of an early hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings - simply breathtaking! The evening transfer to Hurghada will take around four hours.

Today, you'll spend the day at your own leisure with optional activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, quad biking and sunset camel treks on offer if you choose to do so. Your local guide will introduce you to all possibilities during your stay. Hurghada is one of Egypt's best holiday destinations stretching 40 kilometres along the Red Sea Coast offering numerous diving and snorkelling opportunities.

Today, you'll take an early morning flight from Hurghada to Cairo and head straight into the desert to visit Egypt's oldest pyramid at Saqqara. After a light lunch of traditional Egyptian food, you'll visit the Giza Plateau and Sphinx. These are both incredible monuments of natural importance to Egypt, they are arguably the most well known ancient monuments in the world and you'll be blown away by their beauty when you lay eyes on them.
