Explore the highlights of Laos from Vientiane on this exciting tour!

Beginning in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, you'll spend a few days learning about this city which is still very much influenced by the French colonial period. You'll explore the surroundings of the city, visiting small villages and trekking through the jungle on an orchid hike with two expert guides.

Next, the day will come to travel to the small town of Vang Vieng, embedded in bizarre limestone mountains on the banks of the Nam Song River. Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element as you spend a couple of days exploring the surroundings of Vang Vieng by bike and longboat.

Moving on, you'll head to Luang Prabang, where you'll explore the city and it's many temples, trek to Kuang Si Waterfall, visit the Bear Sanctuary and enjoy a traditional Laotian BBQ dinner to mark your final night!

You will be met by your tour guide at Vientiane International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Vientiane is the capital and the largest city of Laos. It is located on the Mekong and is still very much influenced by the French colonial period. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free to spend as you wish.

Day 2

This morning, you'll leave your hotel early and drive two hours to Ban Hatkhay village where two local tour guides will welcome you with a picnic. You will then drive to Pha Say, where your hike starts over small paths through the dense jungle. On a four to five hour trek, you'll explore the forest and let the two orchid experts explain everything to you. After another picnic, you'll take a dip in Tad Sae waterfall before returning to Vientiane in the early evening.

You'll have the opportunity to explore the city on your own this morning. In the afternoon, leave Vientiane behind and drive to the small town of Vang Vieng, which is about 160 kilometres away through stunning mountain countryside. It lies embedded in limestone mountains on the banks of the Nam Song River. Apart from the scenery, Vang Vieng has a lot of adventurous activities to offer, so outdoor enthusiasts will get their money's worth. You'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free.

After breakfast, you will cross the Nam Song and cycle to Tham Phou Kham Cave. The ascent to the entrance of Tham Phou Kham Cave is rewarded with great views. Next to the cave is the Blue Lagoon, where you can take a dip. Then, you'll visit the Hmong village Ban Naxom to get to know the culture of the locals. On the way back to Vang Vieng, you'll visit Tam Chang Cave. In the evening, you will board a longboat and go up the Nam Son to observe life along the shore.

Today, you'll leave Vang Vieng behind and drive north to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. The journey leads through beautiful mountain landscapes. On the way, you will stop to visit some villages of the Hmong ethnic group. After a five to six-hour drive, you'll finally reach the heart of Laos, Luang Prabang. You'll then have the rest of the afternoon and evening free to explore.

From Luang Prabang, you'll travel to the village of Long Lao where you will get to know the way of life of the native Hmong and Khmu people and start your trekking tour. The path leads you over fields and mountains to a cave, which served the locals during the second Indochina war. Once you arrive at the waterfall, you can take a dip in the pools. Afterwards, you can explore the Kuang Si Sanctuary, where bears live in a protected environment. In the afternoon, you'll drive back to Luang Prabang.

Today you will explore Luang Prabang by bike. You'll visit the temples Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Mai and Wat Phra Buddabhat, as well as the national museum and finally, you'll climb the Phou Si Mountain. The view of the city and the confluence of Nam Khan and Mekong is simply magnificent. In the evening, you will be served a traditional Laotian BBQ (Sindat) for your final night.
