After breakfast, you can choose whether you spend your day in the hotel or travel further afield to see what Sri Lanka has to offer. Further up north is Bentota Beach, a stunning vista of golden sand and palm trees that is still quite natural. Exploration Day from Ahungalla

After a few days on the beach, take a break to explore nearby Galle. After the Dutch landed in Sri Lanka, Galle was the main port, so a fortress was created to protect the city. Today, you can explore the fort walls, taking a stroll around the city to learn more about the Dutch influence on the architecture and about the city's history. After the tour, you can explore more of the area if you wish.

A Day in Ahungalla

Wake up and have a coffee or tea on the beach and spend your day jumping between the sand and the poolside. Around Ahungalla there are many chances to get in touch with Sri Lanka's flora and fauna, including a turtle conservation project. Here, you'll learn all about turtles, how their lives are threatened and what local project do to help them. If you are lucky, you may witness turtles coming ashore, or babies ready to be released into the sea.
