You'll begin your trip in the dreamy clutches of Hanoi, a modern yet ancient city. On arrival at Hanoi international airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in and a refreshment. Afterwards, you will go on an orientation tour of Hanoi and visit St Joseph Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake, Jade Temple and the Temple of Literature. You'll then hop on a one-hour rickshaw tour around the Old Quarter called 36 ancient street, catching the main sights before enjoying dinner in the Old Quarter.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel more than 300 kilometres by road to Sapa. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll trek to Cat Cat Village, which is nestled in a beautiful valley about three kilometers from Sapa Town, Cat Cat -the old village of ethnic groups- attracts tourists from all over the world for its distinctive customs and practices which have been lost in almost ethnic villages. You'll then return to Sapa town to explore the Dragon's Jaw and enjoy a local dinner.

After breakfast, you'll hop on your bike to Y Linh Ho village and Lao Chai Village in the beautiful Sapa Valley. When you arrive, you will have the chance to meet and talk with the Black Hmong people wearing their clothes dyed navy. You'll get hands-on helping with preparing lunch at a local house and sharing with the family, a highlight of your must-see North Vietnam tour. After lunch, you'll continue biking to Ta Van to see the Ancient Stone Site before heading back to Hanoi.

Day 4

After breakfast, you'll depart for Halong City, which is 175 kilometres northeast of Hanoi and takes about 4 hours to get there. Halong Bay is recognised as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. You'll arrive at Halong wharf at noon and embark on the Bai Tho junk, make sure to sit near the window or on the upper sundeck to admire the scenery while having lunch. You'll then visit the Surprise Cave and Sio Sim Beach. In the evening, enjoy dinner on the boat and engage in a spot of squid fishing.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will take a small bamboo boat to visit the Luon Cave. Passing through the entrance, you'll come across a tranquil lake surrounded by limestone mountains. In the afternoon, you'll check out and transfer to another boat to Cat Ba Island. On arrival at Gia Luan pier, you will get transferred to visit the Military Hospital Cave before heading to Cat Ba Town for lunch. The rest of the day is free for swimming or exploring at your own pace.

After breakfast, you will take a 30-minute road trip to Cat Ba National Park, the next destination on your must-see North Vietnam trip, and conquer the Ngu Lam Peak before visiting the Trung Trang Cave, a beautiful 300-metre cave carved into the Trung Trang Valley in the middle of the National park. Before your lunch in a local restaurant, you'll return to Cat Ba town. The rest of the day is free for swimming at Cat Ba's beaches or exploring at your own pace.

After breakfast, you'll check out of the hotel and transfer to the Cat Ba pier. From here, you will take a 55-minute hydrofoil boat to Hai Phong, one of your final destinations on this trip. Upon arrival, you will visit the Hang Pagoda and a carpet factory, two major attractions of the area. After a local lunch, you'll transfer back to Hanoi for your overnight stay. Once in Hanoi, you'll head to the Old Quarter for a local dinner and to browse the Hanoi Night Market.
