Arrival in Oslo according to your own itinerary. The Norwegian capital is beautifully situated at the head of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by forested ridges. Oslo offers many well-known sights such as the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Oslo Opera House. Drive to Beitostølen, Visit Heddal Stave Church

Have breakfast at the hotel then drive from Oslo via Hønefoss towards Fagernes. There is a possibility for a detour to visit Heddal Stave Church, Norway’s largest surviving stave church. Continue to the mountain village of Beitostølen, in view of the impressive Jotunheimen Mountain Range with Galdhøpiggen as Norway’s highest mountain (2469 metres). Driving distance: 220km

The Besseggen Ridge is one of Norway’s most popular hikes. The famous Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen wrote of Besseggen: “It cuts along with an edge like a scythe for miles and miles… And scars and glaciers sheer down the precipice to the glassy lakes, 1600 feet below on either side.”

Borgund Stave Church, Flam Railway and Nærøyfjord Cruise

Using a small countryside road visit Borgund Stave Church, one of the best-preserved stave churches. Make a detour at Aurland for the Stagasteinen viewpoint. Continue to Flåm, and the Flåm Railway and a cruise on the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO world heritage sites.

Open-Air Museum, Urnes Stave Church, Adventure Activities

Visit Sogn Folk Museum, an open-air museum, and see how the people of the Sogn region have lived and worked from the middle ages up to the present time. Close to Sogndal, you will also find Urnes Stave Church. The visitor centre of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier is the perfect starting point for many adventurous activities, like glacier hikes, kayaking, rafting, canoeing and horseback riding. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking on your own in the National Park mountains and valleys.

Vik, Hardangervidda Nature Centre

Today continue along the Sognefjord and the apple orchards to Hella. A short ferry crossing to Vik's Hopperstad Stave Church dating from 1150. Continue across the Vik Mountain to Hardangerfjord and cross the impressive bridge to Eidfjord and the Nature Centre. Here you can join an afternoon kayaking or rafting excursion. Ascend the scenic Måbødal Valley and it's spectacular Vøringsfossen Waterfall, Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, with its snow-capped mountain peaks to Geilo.

Geilo to Oslo

Drive from Geilo to Torpo, where there is another stave church, Torpo from the 12th century. Continue via Gol, through the beautiful Hallingdal Valley and along Lake Tyri, to Oslo. When you arrive back to Oslo you may wish to do some of the tours that you did not do the first time you visited.
