Only a 60-minute drive south on your tour from Darwin, Litchfield National Park is possibly the Northern Territory’s best-kept secret. The park is filled with stunning waterfalls and waterholes that are surrounded by monsoonal vine forests – all of which offer a cool respite on warm summer days. A drive through Litchfield is full of contrasts and some of the most enormous termite mounds in the Top End. From here we head to Katherine.

So large is the property that there are four distinct habitats: floodplains and wetlands full of magpies, geese and big crocs; stunning melaleuca forests, savannah woodlands; and finally a riverine environment. Today, you'll head out on an airboat safari on the floodplains which is utterly exhilarating and the only way to truly experience this environment.
