There are various possible ways to reach Everest Base Camp, the highest base camp on earth. For time-pressured travellers, this nine-day short base camp trek that exposes you to all of the stunning scenery en route to this iconic location. You'll see Sherpa culture and Buddhist sites in Dudh Koshi valley, where flora and fauna grow abundantly and the hillsides are dotted with thousands of yaks.

You'll enjoy this wild Mount Everest Base Camp trek in the high altitude terrain with a walk over the high spanned iron bridge, and watching the stunning sunsets on the Himalayas in frosty weather. This comprehensive trek will enthral you with offering 360-degree mountain views in the Khumbu valley, you will see Mount Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Taboche, Cholatse, Island Peak, Lobuche Peak, Thamserku, Kangtega, Kongde peak and their ice-covered glaciers.

The trek begins and ends with a 35-minute flight into and out of Lukla, a gateway of the Everest region. After that, the route ascends up the reverse of Dudh Koshi River, passing the famous Sherpa villages Phakding, Namche Bazar, Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and up to Gorakshep.

Day 1

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla & Trek from Phakding to Monju

Early in the morning, you'll drive to the domestic airport for your Lukla flight. A 35-minute mountain flight gives you a magnificent view of the Himalayas, meandering rivers and landscapes. From Lukla, it's a 6-hour trek and a gradual ascent on a Buddhist trail, passing monasteries and Sherpa villages. to Monju. Walking over the suspension bridge gives you an opportunity to take pictures of breathtaking mountain views on top and the Dudh Koshi valley below.

You'll follow Namche Bazar route over the Milky River then after crossing Hillary Bridge and walk two hours steeply up the trail to reach the village. The charming Namche villages have a view of the high Himalayas. After lunch in Namche, you'll begin your enjoyable three-hour afternoon hike, with sights of several mountains including Mount Everest & Ama Dablam. This evening, you will stay on the banks of the river.

Day 3

Today begins with climbing up through the multiple flower forest to Tengboche Monastery where you may spot wildlife. Then, passed a nunnery, you'll head towards Gompa onwards to Dingboche. Upon crossing Imja River trail, you'll continue to the foot of the mountains in the wide valley, passing by the colourful mani-wall in Pangboche. As you walk, you will be able to see stunning mountain views and see a close view of the famous trekking peak, Island Peak.

Day 4

Today, you'll trek to Lobuche throughout pasture and moraine. The route is relatively easy to Dughla village while enjoying the scenery of mountains around you. Then, you'll ascend on a grit and pebble trail to Chupki-Lhara. Here, you'll find the Everest climber memorial park, you will also see the cemetery of Scott Fischer and the Sherpa, Babu Chiring. Now, you'll follow the pretty easy path to Lobuche, passing Cho La Pass. In the evening, you'll watch the sunset on Mount Nuptse and Pumori.

Today, you'll reach the famous Everest Base Camp (EBC)! The first section of the tranquil ramble is to Gorakshep. After lunch, you'll continue on the nugget trail, enjoying glacier and mountain views. EBC is set aside of the Khumbu Icefall on the Khumbu glacier. The climber base camp looks so colourful with the tents. You'll also see the Everest summiteer doing some prior training. After conquering this lifetime achievement, you'll turn back to the lodge where you will stay overnight.

This morning, you'll hike to Kalapatthar Peak at 5644 metres in the morning for an awesome view of Mount Everest and several other peaks. You'll walk steeply down to the lodge and resume the trek after breakfast. You'll walk on a grit path to Lobuche, then another shingle track takes you from Chukpi Lhara to Dughla with stunning views of mountains. From here, the route to Pheriche is pretty easy in the yak valley. You'll arrive at Pheriche around 3 pm.

You'll walk through a lush and green wildflower valley, crossing a few suspension bridges with a lunch break at Tengboche monastery. At the foot of the monastery, the trail rises up throughout the village and thriving forest until Kyanjuma, a trail confluence of the Gokyo valley route. The Namche Bazar path is a pretty easy walk on a wide road with views of rustic mountains and Buddhist sites. You'll enjoy coffee and cake and Wi-Fi access when you arrive at the lodge.

Today is the final day of the Mount Everest Base Camp trek. Crossing the Kshum Khangru Viewpoint, you'll get the last glance of the Everest. Then, you'll walk-over few bridges and exit from Sagarmatha National Park. After that, you'll stop in one of the Sherpa villages for the lunch. A gentle two-hour hike brings you to Lukla, where you will enjoy an evening dinner with your Sherpa to celebrate your trek completion. The dinner is an opportunity to show your appreciation to your Sherpa.
