Trip Overview

Embark on a nine-day journey beginning in Ho Chi Minh City and finishing in Siem Reap; the perfect Vietnam and Cambodia tour.

You'll head out of Ho Chi Minh City's downtown area to enjoy the natural beauty of the Mekong Delta on a traditional junk, you'll taste local food and experience the fruit garden and coconut production that the area is famous for.

Journey upstream by speed boat to Cambodia, the country of temples and pagodas, where after five hours, you'll reach Phnom Penh. While here, you'll learn more about the real-life of the local people, the tragic history of the region and have the chance to see the spectacular temple complex, Angkor Wat.

Today, you'll arrive in Ho Chi Minh City airport to begin your tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Your guide and driver will transfer you to the hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore. The hotel is close to the famous Ben Thanh market and lots of interesting eateries so you can explore with ease. A great way to get your orientation of this fascinating city is to have a birdseye scenic view from the glass-enclosed observation deck in Bitexco Financial Tower.

After breakfast, you'll head to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of over 200 kilometres of tunnels which played a vital role in the war. After lunch, back in the city, you'll visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, a neo-Romanesque church, then the Central Post Office, designed by Alfred Foulhoux, followed by the Reunification Palace, also called Independence Palace. You'll also visit the former US Information Service building which is now the War Remnants Museum and finish at Ben Thanh Market.

Today's drive is from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho. Youll start by driving for two hours to Ben Tre, the gateway to the Delta. Here, you will board a small boat to start your tour around the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Known also as the rice bowl of Vietnam because of its large rice production, the area has also diversified into activities related to aquaculture, rearing animals, cash crops and fruit trees. You'll have lunch at a local restaurant in Ben Tre.

It’s an early start to the day as you go by boat to see the daily floating market of Can Tho. You'll experience the flurry of vendors trading their wares as boats teeming with fruit, vegetables and household goods ply the waters. Then, it’s off to Chau Doc, a sleepy riverside border town, about three hours drive from Can Tho. You'll have lunch at a local restaurant in Chau Doc and relax for the rest of the day.

After breakfast, you'll take the speed boat to Phnom Penh, which takes about five hours. You'll follow the Delta all the way, passing rice fields and farmhouses and you'll have a chance to see the classic Cambodian style houses, which are traditionally built on stilts. You'll then transfer from the dock to your luxury hotel and relax for the remainder of the day.

Today, you'll visit the Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed - you'll be driven there, where you'll find a memorial stupa. After lunch, you'll visit the National Museum, also called Musee des Beaux-Arts and finish at the Tuol Tom Poung also called Russian Market.

In the morning, you'll take a transfer by car to Siem Reap. On the way, you'll visit the Sambor Prei Kuk temples including Prasat Sambor, Prasat Tor, Prasat Krol Romeas and Prasat Yeay Poun. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is Cambodia's most impressive group of pre-Angkorian monuments. This site encompasses more than 100 mainly brick temples huddled in the forest, among them some of the oldest structures in the country. You'll then continue to Siem Reap and have lunch at a local restaurant.
